Our philosophy

“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” Albert Einstein

To rethink the textile industry, we rely on a team of top graduates and young professionals who live the values of curiosity, courage, collaboration, and love for our planet. This concept has allowed us to develop our innovative green chemical approach. Supported by experienced industry experts.

Our team

Reiner Mantsch

Reiner Mantsch

Founder & Technology Lead

Reiner is the founder and architect of eeden’s technology. His expertise: Study of textile technology at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences. This makes him our brain when it comes to the upcycling process. His expertise is in great demand in the industry. He gives lectures on the circular textile economy at associations and companies. In science and teaching, he is very well-networked with recognized professors. As a former competitive athlete, Reiner knows many factors are essential for success. He always keeps the big picture in mind. Curiosity, creativity, and the vision of a sustainable textile and chemical industry drive him.

Steffen Gerlach

Steffen Gerlach

Founder & Business Lead

Co-Founder Steffen studied business administration at the University of Hamburg. He is our expert in business development, sales, and lean project management. As a financial expert, he secures liquidity and ensures independence by acquiring funding. Steffen thinks strategically, has technical knowledge and exceptional communication skills. He gained valuable experience as a change manager at Airbus, among others. The family man recharges his energy with a variety of outdoor sports activities. There he gives his all. Just as he does for eeden. Because he has his sights firmly set on the transformation of the textile industry.

Ida Marie Brieger

Ida Marie Brieger

Business Development

The textile engineer studied textile and clothing technology at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences. In her studies, she focused on the environmental impact and savings potential of textile recycling. Ida has also been involved in various research projects as a research assistant. Always with a focus on the recyclability of used textiles. Her declared goal: to build something innovative with eeden, to reduce the textile industry’s environmental impact, and thus make the world a little better. You can always chat with her about dogs, diving, hiking, and Denmark.

Julian Hertrampf

Julian Hertrampf

Marketing

Julian is a business psychologist and our expert in strategic marketing. He studied at the PFH Göttingen, graduating top of his class, and specialized in “sustainable entrepreneurship” at the TU Munich. Julian has already proven his comprehensive expertise as a campaign manager for projects with Peek & Cloppenburg, among others. The fact that he combines creativity and strategic thinking with humor and enthusiasm promotes motivation in the team. Just like stories about his former work as a marine biologist and environmentalist in a reserve. He is excited that he can contribute to achieving the 2030 climate targets with eeden.

Dr. Tobias Börnhorst

Dr. Tobias Börnhorst

Process Engineer

The chemical engineer studied in Dortmund, earned his doctoral degree at KIT in Karlsruhe, and gained professional experience in the areas of process development & process transfer at Roche Diagnostics in Mannheim. There, Tobias worked on developing and operating a pilot plant for coating and drying to produce PoC tests. Thanks to his insights, our production plant can be planned. So, he is our man for the next development steps. The father of two children has the eeden goal firmly in mind: the transfer of a process from the laboratory to large-scale production.

Lennart Marx

Lennart Marx

Process Engineer

Lennart studied mechanical engineering at the RWTH Aachen. In his master’s degree, he specialized in process engineering. He acts conscientiously, prudently, and persistently; giving up is not an option for Lennart. He experiments in the lab on even the smallest mechanical solutions. He knows that every detail can be of great importance. Just like with his old fire truck, which he has privately converted into a camper van with a lot of heart and soul. The young, friendly, and ambitious team motivates him always to deliver top performance. His motivation is to actively participate in shaping a sustainable world.

Mary Clare O‘Donnell

Mary Clare O‘Donnell

Chemist

Mary studied at Imperial College London and graduated with a first-class MSci degree in Chemistry. A half-marathon runner, her primary focus has been working in laboratories studying ionic liquids and their applications in biopolymer/biomass extraction. “Brain jogging” is what she calls her work 😉 Luckily, she came across eeden through a Google search! The Irish woman comes from a village with a long tradition of wool spinning and tweed making. So, textiles and sustainable production are virtually in her DNA. And with it, the passion for finding a solution for a circular textile industry.

Dr. Daniel Slak

Dr. Daniel Slak

Chemist

Daniel received his doctoral degree in organic chemistry from the University of Bonn. His research focus: the development of special catalysts that enable improved, sustainable reactions – in line with the principles of “green chemistry”. Daniel likes to look beyond the confines of chemistry. That’s exactly what the A-level graduate believes in and what makes him an asset to us. As an explainer between the “worlds, ” he translates the lab results into a language everyone can understand. Open and communicative, thanks to these qualities, Daniel is a born team builder. His goal for eeden: developing new solutions to control chemical processes sustainably and with natural resources.
